Ash- Shark Music Video

Unfortunately, there was no music video for Ash's track "Shark". Therefore we had to research some of Ash's other music videos in order to gain information on their style.

Much of their work is performance based, as the common style for rock bands.

We are tempted to follow this trend, and create a performance-based video, possibly with a twist. However, this video, 'Polaris', shows the band mixing in performance-based and narrative-based footage.

We like this idea because it varies what the viewer is seeing; no-one wants to look at a video heavily influenced by either of these techniques.

Background of Ash and featured Album

'Shark' is a B side single on their third studio album, 'Free All Angels', released April 16th, 2001. This also featured hit singles such as 'Shining Light' and 'Burn Baby Burn'.

This album and their second studio album '1977', were by far the most successful of their work; both reaching number one in the UK chart positions. The name of the album was taken from a t-shirt worn by a Hells Angel.

Choice Made

We have now narrowed the focus down to one video, to study and draw inspiration from; 'Shark' by Ash.

Ash is an alternative rock band that formed in Downpatrick, Northern Ireland in 1992.

At the moment we have an initial idea of how our video is going to be formatted; it will hopefully flick between a performance and narrative base.

We were given a list of twelve songs, of which we had to choose one.
